Camp Howqua

The infamous Camp Howqua!

The year 7 students were raring to go when they arrived at the camp. Once settled in to their cabins and activity groups the fun began. The groups rotated through a roster of camp activities which included; horse riding, high ropes, flying fox, ‘Survivor’, archery and the  ‘Wedgenator’ – waterslide. We had a special guest on camp with us from Mooroopna. His name was Glenn Gibson one of our local police members. This was Glen’s 4th time on camp with us and he values the opportunity to get to know the students in our school.

Glenn, along with Damian Townsend presented a Cybersafety session to each of the groups. The focus of the session was to look at our local community. What makes it stronger, what things have a negative effect on our community and how the community is made up of many different parts. The presenters also addressed Cyberbullying and gave the students pointers on how to protect yourself and your profile online. This will continue to be reviewed at school.

As always the MSC students were given a big wrap by the camp staff. They enjoy interacting with our students and find that they are always a pleasure to instruct in activities. Both Year 7 & 8 were a pleasure to take away on Camp. I would like to thank the Office staff for helping organise the collection of camp paperwork and Aileen Watson (Student Well being), Leigh Stanbrook (School Nurse), Glenn Gibson (Local Police member) and Craig Parker (Acting Assistant Principal) for accompanying the students on Camp.
